Georgia's high-altitude resorts of Gudauri, Bakuriani and Svaneti open the summer season on July 10, according to the Georgian mountain resort development Company.

The summer season will be open with all security measures in place.

All cable cars in Bakuriani on Didveli will operate every day from 11: 00 to 17: 00. The toboggan track, the first in the South Caucasus, will also be open for guests in Bakuriani.

In Gudauri, the Kobi-Gudauri cable cars will also operate from 11: 00 to 17: 00.

In Svaneti, The zuruldi and Mestia-Hatsvali cable cars will operate from 10: 00 to 16: 30.

"For the promotion and development of mountain resorts, it is mandatory that winter resorts work all four seasons of the year. To do this, Bakuriani is equipped with an international bike path with a length of six thousand meters. The bike path also functions in Gudauri, its length is five thousand meters. The tracks are designed for both professional cyclists and Amateurs," the company notes.

As for the rules developed to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the mountain resorts of Georgia, there is nothing complicated about them.

At the end of the day, the cable cars will be treated with disinfectants. On cable cars with closed booths, passengers are required to wear masks and move no more than four in a booth, taking up space on a staggered basis.

On the open – type cable car, no more than three people can be seated in six places, and four-two, a family can go together with children.

In public areas, guests of the resort will have to observe a two-meter distance. Near the ticket offices there will be disinfection products, before boarding the cable car, passengers will pass a thermal screening.

There are four ski resorts in Georgia: Gudauri, Bakuriani, Svaneti and Goderdzi (Adjara). Usually the winter season in mountain resorts lasts from December to April, but this year the resorts closed prematurely – in mid-March, due to the spread of coronavirus. This decision was made by the government of Georgia.
