In connection with the opening of the borders, the administration of the government of Georgia held a briefing. The briefing included a list of countries to which the country will unconditionally open its borders, as well as countries with which we have not yet opened borders.

At the same briefing, Irakli Chikovani explained what rules should be observed in Georgia, people who came from these five countries, as well as citizens who came from other countries and citizens of Georgia.

With which countries do we unconditionally open borders and when?

According to the decision of the Interdepartmental coordination Council, Georgia will unconditionally open the border with five countries from July 8: Germany, France, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia

What rules should be followed by persons arriving from these countries?

Citizens /residents of the 5 countries listed above will be able to arrive with all possible visits to Georgia only by direct air routes.

Before crossing the border of Georgia, they must fill out an extremely developed special electronic questionnaire, in which they must specify the travel history for the last 14 days before entry, the specific place of stay during the visit to Georgia, contact information, etc.

The corresponding electronic forms, which will have to be filled out in advance by citizens of the above-mentioned EU countries, as well as by persons arriving for any business visit, will be available on the www website.StopCoV.ge, specially created by the government of Georgia.

If they agree, or if the temperature at the border is above 37 degrees, they will be subjected to PCR testing at the airport.

Also, those individuals who have a history of travel to high-risk countries and non-EU members within the last 14 days will be subject to mandatory testing and quarantine.

What countries do we not open borders with?

The existing regime will be maintained for the EU member States that have not opened the border to Georgia.

At this stage, the following countries do not open borders for Georgia: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, Norway, Malta, Finland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary. "It should be noted that a joint relevant Commission has been established with Hungary, which is working on the restoration of traffic," the information released by the office says.

Citizens of those countries that have entered Georgia into the so-called" Green list " (except for the above five countries), or have introduced various restrictions, will be able to enter Georgia under the condition of a 14-day mandatory quarantine, the cost of which must be covered by themselves.

Is the 14-day quarantine still in effect for Georgian citizens?

Georgian citizens, after visiting the countries of the European Union for any purpose, undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine upon their return to their homeland. This includes the 5 countries with which we will unconditionally open our borders on July 8.

Business travelers must take the test every 72 hours?

Guests arriving in Georgia on a business visit are required to undergo PCR testing for COVID-19 every 72 hours at their own expense, or undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine, also at their own expense. This, of course, does not apply to citizens /residents of the 5 EU member States with which Georgia unconditionally opens its borders.

When will regular flights be restored?

In the direction of the 5 EU countries with which we unconditionally open borders, negotiations are underway with international airlines to resume air traffic and regular flights. Among them, an agreement has already been reached with Lufthansa to operate two flights a week to Munich from August 2020, and we are also working with AirBaltic and AirFrance.
