A local humanitarian aid and development organization, together with young volunteers and in collaboration with the Carmel recovery office, conducted an information campaign on a project to support agriculture for Yazidi farmers in the region. This project is funded by the US Agency for international development.

The first day of the project in Carmel began with the distribution of informational brochures about the project and its goals. The project promotes familiarization and proper business and economic management for farmers. After USAID provided these mechanisms, farmers were able to find ways to develop their business.

The awareness campaign lasted two days.

Imad Sobeih, project Manager, said: "This awareness campaign included several points that we wanted to convey to people, namely:

1 - that there is cooperation between citizens and the reconstruction Office in investing and using these mechanisms.

2 - so that they know about the project and cooperate together in the development of their economy.

3-Pay attention to the agricultural aspect in Carmel and other cities.

For their part, residents and farmers of Karls Kasbah and the village of Shakuli expressed their gratitude to the funding agencies, including the US Agency for international development. The Yazidi population appealed to the Agency to support their villages and regions and support agricultural projects, as agriculture is the heart of investment in the Nineveh plain.

The equipment that will be transferred to the regional reconstruction Department next Monday includes the following:

Tractors, straw lifting cart, straw unloading machine with trailer, fire extinguishers.

Because these mechanisms will serve the agricultural sector and farmers in the city of Carmel to help restore the economy, especially after the city of Carmel and the al-Hamdaniya district as a whole experienced difficult economic conditions after the liberation of the Nineveh Governorate from ISIL control.
