At the online conference, a meeting was held on the education sector in Shangal and Bashiqa and in the Yazidi IDP camps in Kurdistan. A group of activists of Yazidi, Arab and Kurdish teachers and education Directors met in Shangal to discuss the possibility of education where the Yazidi minority lives.

Then, during the meeting, they discussed the difficult educational reality of Yazidi students after the genocide, including the acute shortage of teaching staff, where each teacher divides at least 500 students, and this complicates their task and negatively affects education."

The conference participants stressed that "in the Yazidi regions, about 500 employees are needed in the field of education, and the Chagall district needs the most".

Professors and teachers noted that " governments should hire at least 500 employees to achieve a reasonable proportion commensurate with the number of students."

In a special interview with "Yazidi 24" after the meeting, Professor Hasan said, the headmaster of the school explained that the reasons for the lack of teaching staff in Yazidi areas are related to the emigration of many teachers, many were captured by the ISIL terrorist and killed. There are no appointments from either the Central government or the regional government, except for the appointment of only five Yazidi graduates in Nineveh."

"Said" added that "in recent years, Yazidi students have achieved very high results in universities, and a large number of them have graduated from many faculties, and Shangal will not need any specialists from outside of Kurdistan if Yazidi graduates of institutions are assigned to Yazidi minority areas , and that most of the students were from Shangal, and many students received higher degrees." This provides fertile ground for the construction of a University core in Shangal, if other conditions arise in the future."

The conference was attended by:

Murad Ismail: former Executive Director of Yazda International

Evan Hassan: University Professor

Katerina: American activist

Hassan Saed: former head of the "Yezidi fraternity"
