In his speech to the European Parliament, the spiritual leader of Bawe, Sheikh Ali Elias Nasir, talks about the severe suffering endured by the Yazidi people in 2014, about the grave condition of Yazidi refugees and displaced persons in camps eight years later. Bawe Sheikh calls on all European countries to open their doors to Yezidis:
"My request to you is that it is not easy for us Yezidis to leave our homeland, but the conditions that Yezidis have been experiencing in the camps for eight years are very difficult. I urge you to open your doors to us and accept the Yezidis into the European family."
