Accidents in Dohuk camps for internally displaced persons implications for Yazidi families

In the past 24 hours, two accidents have occurred in Yazidi internally displaced persons camps. These incidents highlight the vulnerability and difficult living conditions for internally displaced persons in Iraq.

In one of the camps in Dohuk, an accidental fire started a fire that destroyed 10 tent structures and all property belonging to Yazidi families. Fortunately, there were no human casualties.

Then also in the Khanki camp, there was an explosion of an electric heater (electric cooker). As a result of the tragedy, a woman was killed and her child, who was with her, was injured.

These incidents underscore the need to improve living conditions and security measures in camps for internally displaced persons. Urgent action is required to ensure safe housing conditions, adequate electrical equipment and humanitarian assistance to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
