Although educational institutions have been open in Iraq and Kurdistan for almost a month, thousands of Yazidi children of refugees and displaced persons still do not go to school. Most school-age children have to work because of their poor financial situation. Some of these children work in the fields at seasonal jobs, while others sell crafts on the roads. There is also information about children from Shangal who work in onion fields in Turkey near Ankara.

Difficult living conditions forced the children to do seasonal work. Some of them start working at the age of 7-8 years. Children, despite their young age, work from 6 am to 9 pm.

The children themselves, working in the fields, say that they need to work so that their families have a livelihood, and they do not know what could be different.

A ten-year-old boy named Kapo says that he has been working in the field for as long as he can remember, his father was killed by ISIS terrorists, and thus the boy makes life easier for his mother.

On the one hand, their families are struggling to make ends meet, and on the other, they are worried about the future of their children. The dream of the parents of these children is that their children study, as children should, so that their lives are more prosperous than themselves, but life's struggle often prevents the realization of these dreams.

According to a report by the Iraqi Labor Safety Council, more than 200,000 children did not go to school last year.
