The body of a Yazidi activist was found in the northern part of Sinjar in the Iraqi province of Nineveh. According to "Dengê Ezdiyan" (The Voice of the Yezidis), activist Jamil Suleiman was killed by unknown people near Dokhala under unclear circumstances.

"At the moment, no group has claimed responsibility for the murder, Jamil was a member of the Yazidi House and an Independent Youth Group," a statement posted on Twitter said.

Murad Ismail, President, and co-founder of the Sinjar Academy said Suleiman was one of the leading organizers of the recent demonstrations in Sinjar calling for the demilitarization of Sinjar. The demonstrations were held after the May clashes between the Iraqi army and the "Sinjar Resistance Units" (YBS), which led to the displacement of hundreds of Yazidis.

"We are deeply concerned about these ongoing crimes, regardless of whether they are politically motivated or not," Ismail said in an interview with local media. "Jamil was an activist and played a key role in organizing the recent demonstrations in Sinjar. We are still waiting for the details of this murder and call on the authorities to investigate and disclose the details to the public."

Jamil Suleiman was a true son and patriot of the Yezidi people.

The Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yezidis expresses condolences to the family of the late Jamil Suleiman.
