The constitutional amendments concerning family values and the protection of minors have been officially registered during today’s Bureau session.

The matter will now be sent to the Committee on Procedural Issues and Rules for signature verification and to develop a plan for creating a public commission.

Shalva Papuashvili called on all political factions and groups to designate one representative each for the Universal Public Review Commission. He emphasized the importance of balanced representation, urging the opposition to actively participate in discussions.

“The Commission’s task will be to organize public meetings, including in the regions, to introduce the draft law and gather community feedback.

The Rules and Procedures Committee will have one week to verify the signatures. Subsequently, a draft resolution will be prepared for discussion in the following session week, establishing the Public Review Commission.

This Commission will then have a month to hold meetings and report the results to Parliament. The parliament will consider the draft law in committee and plenary sessions,” Papuashvili stated.

The ruling Georgian Dream submitted the constitutional amendments on family values and the protection of minors on March 25.
