The Iraqi provincial council elections were held on December 18th, 2023. Twenty-nine Yazidi candidates participated in the elections, competing on national lists with four candidates per orphan quota seat.

Unfortunately, the election resulted in the loss and dispersion of Yazidi votes. This was mainly due to the large number of candidates and the lack of electoral programmes that could satisfy the Yazidi community.

Erivan Mehdi Haji received 6,055 votes, the highest percentage of votes among Yazidi candidates, and ranked fourth in her party in the Nineveh Provincial Council.

Candidate Idan Shivan received 5,901 votes and won a seat on the provincial council, surpassing three other candidates for the quota seat.

Wissam Salem, a candidate on the National Union list of the People's Union of Nineveh, was the only National Union candidate to win a parliamentary seat, having received 3,307 votes.

The nominee from the 'Yezidi Party for Freedom and Democracy' (PADÊ) received 3,033 votes, securing a seat in the Nineveh Provincial Council. The party's success in winning a seat is noteworthy.
