We, the undersigned representatives of Yazidi organizations and media outlets operating in Sinjar and beyond, follow with great concern the subversive campaign and dangerous hate speech unfolding through social media, based on lies and fabrications about what happened in Sinjar, which suggests the possibility of a new genocide that could take place at any time against Yazidis.  Therefore, we appeal to the international community and friendly countries which have recognized the genocide of Yazidis to follow the situation closely, and we observe the inciting platforms and the parties behind them, we demand an immediate investigation of this great conspiracy.

Yazidis, despite the genocide, have always extended a brotherly hand to all nationalities and other religions. Yazidis are forbidden to attack temples, mosques, synagogues and other religious sites of any other religion for any reason whatsoever, because we consider them all sacred homes of God. However, some of the remnants of ISIS and its sleeper cells originally published an old photo of the Musab bin Omair of Diyala mosque, which was attacked by angry Muslims as part of the clashes that took place in 2020 in a Yazidi-free area.  Then after their disgusting lie of alleged Yazidi attacks on the mosque was exposed, after photos of the destroyed mosque, which is also old, were published.

Yazidi youth have campaigned to explain that the mosque was abandoned after it was destroyed and burned by ISIS terrorists and left until it was rebuilt. Tens of thousands of hate speeches and threats poured out against Yazidis, especially on Kurdish websites, despite statements of denials made by Major General Asir al-Rubaie, commander of the 20th Division, Major General Leith, commander of the Nineveh Police, and Professor Ismail Muhammad, director of the Sunni Foundation in Sinjar. Despite video footage published on the Internet and on some TV channels that refutes the lies about the attack on the mosque. But with great regret we see that the collective mind of ISIS, their henchmen radical imams try by all means to heat up the situation and continue their lies and rebellious rhetoric.

In this regard, we demand the establishment of an independent investigative committee to investigate this case in order to clarify the facts and uncover the plot against the Yazidi civilians of Sinjar. We also call on the relevant authorities to combat extremism and terrorism by controlling these extremist electronic platforms and taking legal action against false propagandists who threaten peace and public safety and endanger the lives of innocent, defenseless Yazidis. We also call on the international community and all local and international human rights institutions to monitor the reality of Yazidis and possible reprisals against them. We call on all respected Muslim brothers who know the truth to take a position of restraint against these terrorist voices who are again using a religious pretext to launch more attacks against the native Yazidi population.

Regarding the accidental and unplanned return of some Arab families to the center of the city, which caused unrest and anger after some of the survivors recognized one of the ISIS fighters who infiltrated with these families. We would like to reiterate the firm Yazidi position that all those whose hands were not stained with the blood of innocents and did not join and support ISIS terrorists from among Sunnis are our brothers in the homeland and many of them suffered at the hands of the terrorist organization. No one prevented these people from returning to their homes, as evidenced by the return of most of the residents of the Arab villages in the northern district who live among us and live with us in both joy and sorrow, and not a single quarrel has occurred since the liberation of Sinjar.

Unfortunately, some official authorities, in an ill-conceived and chaotic way, without a security check and without consulting the Yazidi and Shiite victims among the residents of Sinjar, have clarified the innocence of the returned people, and this case has created a state of congestion and total rejection of all components of Sinjar. Because the security authorities are obliged to conduct security checks on all those who wish to return before proceeding with their return and bring the perpetrators to justice so that relations will normalize and justice will prevail. Therefore, we urge an end to arbitrary returns and agreement with the people of the region on thoughtful mechanisms in which there is no way out for terrorists.

We also propose this initiative to the government and the concerned authorities, which will satisfy all parties, especially those affected-not only Yazidis, but also Turkmen Shiites, Shabaks, Christians, and Sunnis:

1) The first step: we know that the government, in agreement with Sunni political parties, canceled some security measures. This decision had serious consequences in areas of friction between the components. That is why the concerned leaders of the security forces must conduct a comprehensive security survey of Sunni families wishing to return to Sinjar so that terrorists will not infiltrate these areas again.

2) Second step: concerning the Sunni Arab brothers who want to return to their homes in Sinjar. We suggest that the security forces concerned publish the names of family heads and adults (over 18 years old) on their official website and share these names with the local Sinjar community (Yazidi and Shiite), especially with their former neighbors. Victims and witnesses, as well as anyone who has an objection or security record regarding these names, are given a grace period of one month. If no one objects and no one files a complaint, the family is allowed to return with honor and dignity. If there are complaints from victims, law enforcement will take action. Families are not allowed to return until the issue is resolved, to prevent strife and out of respect for the victims of the genocide.

3) Third step: the Ministry of Immigration and the relevant authorities, especially those who pay compensation and return subsidy, will begin to facilitate with the displaced Yazidis and Sinjaris living in Kurdistan, those who wish to return, and allocate a subsidy for each family.

The Yazidi community has been and remains one of the most eager to get life back on track, so that everyone can live in safety and peace under the tent of one homeland, and at the same time we hold on to our values, our homeland and our land. Yazidis are a small people on earth who are strong in faith and will, and all the plans of the rotten minds of the supporters of the terrorist ISIS will fail in the future.
