On the occasion of the Yazidi holiday "Cemaya Şixadî", a new gate was opened in the Lalish temple

The newly built entrance gate of the holy Yazidis temple of Lalish is open and it coincided with the celebration of the Yazidi holiday "Cemaya Şixadî".

Hazim Tahsin Beg and representatives of the Yazidi clergy of Iraq, together with the Governor of Dahuk Ali Tatar, opened the main outer gate leading to Lalish.

Located in a valley in the Shekhan district of Duhok province, Lalish Temple is a sacred Yazidi temple to which Yazidis from all over the world make pilgrimages.

Khalid Narmo, Lalish's reconstruction engineer, said the gate cost 180 million Iraqi dinars to build. The gates depict important Yazidi symbols, such as the sun and others. More than 30% of the Lalish reconstruction project was implemented based on the original design and architecture of the temple. Also, according to the engineer, 65 other projects will be implemented, which include the construction and reconstruction of temples, shrines and other important Yazidi facilities.

A two-way road leading to Lalish was also opened.

The holiday "Cemaya Şixadî" is considered one of the holidays of the Yazidis, which occurs in early October and lasts seven days, during which various religious ceremonies are observed.

The Governor of Dahuk, in his speech at the opening ceremony, stated that the constructed gate is an architectural symbol of the Yazidis and wished all those present that the holiday "Cemaya Şixadî" would bring happiness to the Yazidis and all people living in the Kurdistan Region. For Lalish, as an important Yazidi temple, the implementation of new projects will continue, while at the same time preserving its sacred, architectural and historical symbols and place.
