Kurdish organizations against the "Shangal Agreement"
The Shangal agreements included monitoring by the international community, training and equipping local security forces consisting of the local Yazidi population.
The agreement was to further define the economic recovery plan for the stricken Sinjar. Creation of a special national international Fund and reconstruction Committee, which will include representatives of the Yazidi people and other minorities of Sinjar.
The PKK, OSH and DPN, as well as Iran and Hashd al-Shaabi, opposed the Shangal agreement.
Metin Pirani, Secretary General of the Kurdistan Islamic movement, said that the Kurdistan workers 'party (PKK), the Shangal self-defense Units and the peoples' Democratic party (HDP), as well as Iran and Hashd al-Shaabi, are opposed to the Shangal agreement.
"We expected that the PKK, the OSH and the HDP would support the agreement to normalize the situation in Shangal, but unfortunately they, like Iran and Hashd al-Shaabi, opposed the agreement," Metin Pirani said, speaking to K24 news Agency.
"We have repeatedly asked the PKK to support the Kurdistan region, but so far we have not received a positive response. The PKK has remained in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Iran for more than 10 years and has fulfilled all the wishes of these States. In 1999, Syrian President Hafez al-Assad asked PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan to leave their country, and the PKK immediately withdrew from Syria. The PKK must respect the will, sovereignty and achievements of the Kurdistan region," the Kurdish politician said.
