The head of the Department of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF or Hashd al-Shaabi), Faleh al-Fayyad, acknowledged the instability of the situation in Shangal (Sinjar) in the places where the Yazidi minority lives and the failure to fulfill the agreement concluded between the governments of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region regarding the normalization of the situation in the city.
Al-Fayyad's speech was made during a press conference in Mosul.
The head of the Department of the Popular Mobilization Forces expressed hope for the implementation of the agreement, ensuring the stability of the situation and solving a large list of problems that the residents of the city, and especially the Yazidi population, suffer from, since the problems of Sinjar and the ethnic cleansing of the Yazidi population that its residents were subjected to are bleeding wounds for all Iraqis, and Sinjar remains an unstable area.
The Federal Government is trying to withdraw all the forces present in the Sinjar area and entrust the task of maintaining security and stability in the area to the local police who are located in the area.
"The Sinjar Agreement has stalled a bit, but it is still being implemented and will continue. At the last meeting of the National Security Council, we raised the issue of the problems in Sinjar, and we will work to solve them. One of the reasons delaying the stability of Sinjar is regional interventions," Al — Fayyad said.
The head of the Department referred to the efforts that, according to him, were made to solve problems between the Popular Mobilization Forces, the Peshmerga and the army regarding the territories disputed between Baghdad and Erbil.
