Construction of an olive press building has begun near the Lalesh Temple. The tradition of growing olive trees in this area has been going on for several centuries.

With the financial support of the Kurdistan Regional Government, construction work was started. Khairi Kiddy, one of the engineers overseeing the project, said:

"Since the beginning of February, we have started implementing a project to build a building with an olive press inside. The cost of the project is 80 million Iraqi dinars, and the building area will be 170 square meters. The exterior shape of the building will be in the archaeological style to match the structure of the Lalesh Temple, as a temple of the ancient existence of the Yazidi religion. The advantages of this project are obvious, easier, and faster implementation and processing of olives into oil. Also, with the help of this oil, the entire Lalesh temple is illuminated."

It is noteworthy that the pressing of olives takes place in early April every year, as olives are harvested from olive trees located in the mountains on the outskirts of the Lalesh Temple. Olives are harvested, squeezed, and filtered, in special barrels for about 7-10 days.
