After the Yazidi students were admitted to the American University-Dohuk to study medicine, they hoped to graduate with a degree, but the availability of certain educational conditions gradually eclipsed their hopes.

One of the students admitted to this university, who declined to give his name, said: "When we were accepted to the American University in Dohuk, of course, there was no limit to our happiness, but when it came to registration, we were surprised by certain conditions. Namely: to study at this university, students must have a guarantor, and 50 thousand in a bank account as a guarantee. For us, as displaced persons, these conditions are very difficult.

The next prerequisite is to stay in Kurdistan for ten years after graduation, but none of us knows if we will stay here, or if we will, for how long?

We call on all Yazidi officials and all concerned authorities in Dohuk to lift these conditions or facilitate their implementation so that we can continue and complete our studies."

For his part, the adviser to the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government on Yazidi affairs, Sheikh Shamo, said Ezidi24:

"Since these students contacted us, we have been working to find a suitable solution to this problem. These conditions were established by the American University in cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government, in order to fill the void that hospitals in the provinces of the region complain about, there is a huge shortage of doctors and medical staff in medical institutions. Unfortunately, these rules are not subject to change, despite all our attempts."
