National Security Advisor Qasem Al-Araji stressed the importance of the role of the clergy in strengthening social unity in Sinjar.

A statement from Al-Araji's office, obtained by the Yazidi media, said, "Qasem Al-Araji received one of the prominent figures of Sinjar province, Mahmoud Al-Khani, head of the Shiite community of Sinjar. After getting acquainted with the situation in Sinjar province and discussing the ways of problems in the region, the parties agreed to ensure the security and stability of the area through the cooperation of the people with the security services".

The statement added, "During the meeting, the importance of the role of clerics and prominent figures in strengthening social cohesion through moderate national discourse was emphasized".
