Swedish prosecutor Rina Devejon announced new charges against a Swedish woman previously convicted of links to the ISIS terrorist organisation and violating international law by allowing her twelve-year-old son to join a terrorist soldier, thereby failing to act and therefore failing in her parental duties. The boy was killed at the age of 16 in Syria.

Nine people, including women and children, are now plaintiffs in the new indictment, the Swedish website bohuslaningen reported.

The female suspect is accused of genocide, crimes against humanity and serious war crimes against the Yazidis, an ancient religious minority in eastern Syria and northwestern Iraq. The Stockholm District Court recognised her as a suspect.

Her lawyer Mikael Westerlund said the woman denies committing the offence.

Recall, the investigation is related to the events that took place from August 2014 to December 2016 in the Syrian Raqqa, which ISIS declared then the capital of the ‘caliphate’.

A woman from western Sweden was previously sentenced to six years in prison for a serious war crime and breach of international law for bringing her 12-year-old son to Syria, where he became a child ISIS soldier and died in the consequence.
