Yesterday, Yazidis of Georgia and the whole world held mourning events in memory of the genocide of the Yazidi people on August 3, 2014. On this tragic day, terrorist gangs attacked the Yazidi villages of Shangal (Sinjar) in the Nineveh Valley, killing tens of thousands of civilians and capturing more than 6,000 Yazidi women and children.

The event, held in Georgia, was attended by clergy and laity who gathered at the Ezida - QUBA SULTAN EZID Temple to pray and honor the memory of the innocently killed people, Dimitri Pirbari delivered a memorial speech about the fallen brothers and sisters. After the prayers, all the guests went to the Yazidi Cultural Center, where paintings of the victims of August 2014 and Yazidi refugees were exhibited.

It was said at the event that the genocide of the Yazidi people could have been avoided if the world community had intervened in the war, or rather, the ethnic cleansing by ISIS terrorists. However, this did not happen, and all parties, seeing the destruction of the Yazidi people, remained silent and did not interfere. Only after the war, years later, part of the civilized Western world recognized the genocide of the Yazidi people.

Yazidis have survived more than 74 ethnic cleansing, and they will continue to survive. The enemies failed to break the spirit of the Yazidi people and they will not succeed as long as at least one Yazidi lives in the world.

Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yazidis together with its people, remembers and honors the fallen Yazidi brothers and sisters. We will never forget their sacrifice and will continue to fight for justice for the Yazidi people.
