The High Commission for Human Rights: We must work collectively for the Yazidis to obtain their rights
The President of the High Commission for Human Rights in Iraq, Dr. Aqil Al-Mousawi, the Yazidi activist Murad Ismail, met in the presence of the Vice-President of the Commission, “Ali Al-Jarba” and Messrs Dr. Ali Al-Bayati and Zaidan Al-Atwani, members of the Board of Commissioners to search for files related to the Yazidi component.
In the meeting, the two parties discussed many issues related to the Yazidi community internally and externally, and praised the humanitarian conditions documented by the commission in the camps for the displaced, as well as the files of return, reconstruction, victims of mass graves, the administration of justice, laws and legislation related to the Yazidis.
Al-Mousawi stressed during the meeting, "the importance of joint work between the relevant institutions and committees in proportion to the size of the persecution and the challenges faced by the Yazidi community in order to obtain their full rights and compensate them."
In the meeting, they discussed what was documented by the UNHCR through its teams in the Yazidi IDP camps, monitoring reports on human rights, and the possibility of the UNHCR’s contribution to solving problems between the components of the city.
