A meeting was held between the Kurdish leader Masoud Barzani, the spiritual Yazidi leader Mir Hazim Tahsin Beg, and members of the Yazidi Spiritual Council.
During the meeting held in Salahadin, the situation in Shangal and the obstacles to the normalization of Yazidi life in the area were discussed.
Mir Hazim Tahsin Beg, Baba Sheikh Ali and members of the Yazidi Spiritual Council thanked Leader Masoud Barzani for his constant concern for the Yazidi community, expressing the hope that he will do everything possible to ensure that the Shangal Agreement signed between Erbil and Baghdad is implemented as soon as possible so that the displaced Yazidis can return to their homes and live-in peace and security.

The Yazidi delegation also stressed the need for an active role and participation of Yazidis in the institutions of the Kurdistan region. Masoud Barzani, for his part, said he has always supported the Yazidi demands, noting that Kurdistan and the Peshmerga have always been on the side of their Yazidi brothers and sisters.

"The Peshmerga forces lost 500 soldiers to liberate Shangal from the militants of the Daesh terrorist group," Barzani said, adding that " the Shangal agreement must be implemented without fail."

We will remind that representatives of the Yazidi minority also fought in the Peshmerga. Calling on the Yazidis to maintain their unity, Barzani stressed that rhetoric and actions that could damage the unity of the Yazidi community are unacceptable. The Kurdish leader also called for the Yazidis to insist on respecting their legal rights.
