About Til Ezêr (Qahtaniyah)
Til Ezêr, known in Arabic as Qahtaniyah, is one of the mujammaʻat — the collective towns into which Yazidi villagers were resettled under the Baʼathist government. On 14 August 2007 it and the neighbouring town of Siba Sheikh Khidir were struck by coordinated truck bombings, among the deadliest single attacks of the entire Iraq war.
The town was again caught up in the 2014 genocide. Both episodes are treated in the History and the Genocide, Displacement & Justice sections; this entry records the place and its community.
