Overview

About Snûne

Snûne lies on the northern flank of Mount Sinjar and is one of the more substantial towns of the district. It has served since 2015 as a point of return and as a base for services in an area still recovering from the occupation.

Like the rest of Sinjar, Snûne's recovery is entangled with displacement, contested security arrangements, and the slow pace of reconstruction.

This is a community place rather than a primarily religious one. Population and return figures move and are always given with a source and a date rather than stated as fixed.
