A Yazidi al-Qaeda journalist with a large group of supporters from Germany has submitted a petition to the German parliament. According to him, this petition was submitted to the German Parliament to recognize the genocide of the Yezidis, provided that 50,000 people sign it, everyone from all over the world, regardless of nationality and organization, can sign it on the spot or online.

Al-Qaeda explained that the time has come to recognize that what happened to the Yazidi people is a genocide of the 21st century, and such steps can lead to the prosecution of those who joined ISIS. The journalist sent out a petition to prominent personalities in Germany who constantly support the Yezidis.

The petition has a great response, but, unfortunately, some Yazidis say that the petition pursues other goals, and refuse to sign it.

Why is this petition important for Yazidis?

The importance of the petition lies in how Europe will deal with the Yezidis in the future, special attention will be paid to the issues of applying for residence and obtaining a residence permit in European countries, asylum on a religious basis.

Now, almost 25,000 signatures have been collected, the middle of the road has been reached, the work is still ongoing.

A petition was submitted to the German Parliament to include the issue of the 2014 Yezidi genocide on the agenda and discuss it with a view to its recognition. In Germany, the Parliament has two ways to discuss and legitimize a specific issue in the form of a decision or law, either through one of the German parties, if that party accepts this issue, or through a group of deputies. As for the second method, it is in the hands of the people (citizens), since the German Constitution allows citizens to submit their projects and opinions directly to Parliament, and this issue was settled in the German Basic Law (Constitution) under Articles 17 and 45c. Any citizen or civil society organization can submit a petition (request) to Parliament to discuss the topic or adopt a specific law. If the request receives the support of 50,000 people, the Parliament will be obliged to discuss the issue at an open meeting.

If the issue is considered, the Yezidis will receive many benefits, especially those who live in Germany, where the state will be obliged to accept asylum requests for all Yezidis arriving from Iraq, in addition to prosecution, all those who joined ISIS or supported them will be involved.

The rumors, the spread of which led to the non-signing of the petition, are mostly untrue, and the one who promoted them did not read the document, since it is written in legal German. The request is very clear (recognition of the genocide that happened to the Yezidis at the hands of the terrorist organization ISIS in 2014), the official document is published on the website of the German Parliament, the German press also wrote about it.
