"I guarantee that part of the subsidies in terms of utility payments for target groups will be preserved," said Georgian Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze.
According to him, it is impractical to subsidize the entire population of Georgia, only certain social groups of the population will be subsidized.
"As you know, the decision on subsidies, including on electricity tariffs, was made based on the covid-pandemic and because of the increase in electricity tariffs. In other circumstances, when we talk about tariff subsidies for all segments of the population, this is wrong. We can discuss target groups, I guarantee that part of the subsidies will be preserved, and for the rest of the population, which is not the most vulnerable social class, I think it is unreasonable to subsidize the electricity tariff in a non-pandemic period," Georgy Kakauridze said.
