The electricity crisis in Iraq has been a routine problem for many years, but in the area of Shangal, located in the western part of Nineveh governorate, it is almost completely absent, and citizens say that the hours of national power outages in most cases reach 18 hours a day.

Citizen Kamiran Kamal, speaking to Ezidi24, said that " the hours of power outage range from 18 to 20 hours a day, and if we compare Shangal with other areas liberated from ISIS, we will notice a very big difference between them. The structure of Shangal is destroyed in a very large percentage, despite this, we notice the return of Yazidi refugees in a large percentage, and the government has not provided them with means of subsistence."

For its part, the official of management of electricity Shangal district engineer Muhammad said, " What aggravated in recent days in the area of electricity crisis, this problem occurs throughout the country and in Shangal , there are also no solutions and alternatives now, as for the stop stations. There is a shortage of electricity, and we are trying to resolve this problem."
