The mayor of the Yazidi district of Shangal announced that they officially and in writing demanded that the appointed Prime Minister of Iraq, Mustafa Kazimi, withdraw the forces of the Kurdistan Workers ' party (PKK) from the province of Shangal.
Mayor of Shangal Mahma Khalil said in an interview with BasNews news Agency that the situation in Shangal continues to deteriorate due to the presence of illegal armed groups in the area.
"We are trying to normalize the situation in the area," Khalil explained.
