The main objective of the monitoring group is to examine the actual situation of regional or minority languages in the country, assess the implementation of the state party's obligations and, where possible, encourage the state party to gradually achieve a higher level of enforcement.

During the visit, the expert group was in the community, Eraskhahun and Luxembourg, Aragatsotn region. Sashik Sultanyan of the Yazidi human rights Center and Isabel Broyan, coordinator of women's, children's, and educational programs, attended the discussion at a high school in Yeraskhakhun.

Representatives of the organization and the group of experts also met with representatives of the Yazidi community, during which proposals were made on the problems of national minority languages in Armenia.  The Yazidi Center for human rights has put forward a number of proposals aimed at preserving the national identity of the Yazidi community in Armenia:

* Develop and implement a national strategy to address issues related to the preservation of the languages and identity of national minorities.

* Provide pre-school education in the languages of national minorities.

* The Republic of Armenia should organize effective language programs and training courses for teachers of national minorities, which should include knowledge of both teaching methodology, culture, identity and basic rights of national minorities.

* The formula for calculating the salaries of teachers of national minorities should differ from the basic formula in the education system for the participation of qualified teachers in the educational process. A decent salary should be set for them.

• The language of the Yezidis should be made compulsory in places of compact residence. In addition, the students of the first class must have the opportunity to study other subjects in their native language.

* Create a team of experts to write and print high-quality textbooks and make the process as transparent as possible.

* Prepare programs in minority languages on public television. Ensure the importance of national minority departments on Public radio in order to promote the preservation of the minority language.

A delegation of experts from the Council of Europe will prepare a report based on the results of the montoring. This report should be submitted together with recommendations to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
