The aspiration of the Yazidi community in Armenia to preserve its cultural, religious and ethnic characteristics became particularly sensitive after Armenia gained independence. Despite the most difficult situation in the country, the rights and freedom of the Yazidi community in Armenia were slowly and gradually strengthened. A number of Council of Europe and UN norms, procedures and mechanisms concerning minorities in Armenia have become an integral part of the legislative field in Armenia. However, increasingly, the violated rights and freedom of the Yazidi community have been featured on these and other international platforms.

Unfortunately, so far, the Yazidi community in Armenia has not received the necessary attention from the authorities. In fact, the Yazidi community faces the fact of existence. The Yazidi community is still deprived of the necessary state measures aimed at real, not declarative, guarantees of the rights to non-discrimination and equality.

Representatives of the Yazidi community in their numerous appeals raised the issue of the need to promote multicultural and intercultural education in Armenia, which will create an opportunity to eliminate discrimination on the part of the titular nation. Participation in all spheres of public life of the Yazidi people at the appropriate level remains relevant. An important factor for stability is the inclusion of the Yazidi community in the development and poverty reduction processes in Armenia. All these accumulated problems show the existence of disparities in social indicators such as employment, health and housing conditions, as well as the situation of women and children belonging to the Yazidi community. This is what was mentioned by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at the government session on 4 January 2024. He drew attention to the fact that at the moment there is a problem of community development with national minorities, as the existing programs do not stimulate their development. He noted that these communities had not been included in the consolidation program "so that there was no additional context", but because of this they had begun to lag behind in economic development. In the long term, this lag will worsen. "Even now the difference is already visible," Pashinyan said. The Prime Minister noted that there was an idea to compensate these processes within the framework of subvention programs, in which the share of state participation would be higher than usual. At the same time, he expressed skepticism that such an approach would change the situation.
