The ongoing siege of Sinjar province has seriously affected the lives of its residents, especially the Yazidi community. Education in this region has been disrupted due to the lack of fuel for heating and transport, leaving thousands of students without access to schooling. The Sinjar Education Department announced the suspension of educational activities in the district for an indefinite period.

The strict restrictions of the regional government on self-government have further aggravated the situation. Despite statements about meeting the needs of the population, the authorities imposed strict control over the local administration, hindering efforts to provide adequate support. Transport disruptions also contributed to the suspension of education: students cannot get to schools due to a lack of vehicles.

According to local media reports, about 14,500 students are enrolled in 68 schools and institutions of the district. The prolonged closure of these institutions poses a serious threat to the educational progress of Yazidi youth.

In addition to education, the siege also led to power outages and made it difficult to provide basic medical services. The shortage of diesel fuel plunged the region into darkness, affecting both refugee camps and local communities. Hospitals continue to work with difficulty due to lack of fuel and limited supplies of medicines.

The inadequate provision of humanitarian assistance to Yazidi refugees by both the Iraqi Government and international organizations has further exacerbated the difficulties faced by the community. The siege has exacerbated the existing vulnerability, as a result of which the Yazidi population is in dire need of constant and comprehensive support.
