In the Yazidi refugee camp “Kabartu " there was a fire, which completely burned 5 tents. According to residents, there are no victims or injured.

The Ministry of immigration and displacement of Iraq, an office in Dohuk, delivered humanitarian aid and new tents to those affected by the fire.

This was told by Muhammad al-Bawwati " Today humanitarian aid was delivered with the head of the Dohuk branch, Iskandar Muhammad Amin."

He added: " This aid consists of a food basket, medicines, and new tents that have been distributed to Yazidi refugees affected by the fire."

Recall that tens of thousands of Yazidi families who were forced to leave their homes during the 2014  genocide remain in refugee camps. As a result of the 2014 genocide, more than 400,000 Yazidis left Shangal and became refugees. Most of them settled in refugee camps in Northern Iraq, while some went to neighboring Syria and Turkey. So far, most of the Yazidi refugees have not returned to their homes. People do not return because of the lack of infrastructure and destroyed homes.

Earlier, on July 16, the Minister for migration of Iraq announced the return of more than 8,000 refugees to Shangal.
