Nadia Murad was the guest of honour of the first Young Activists Summit at United Nations in Geneva

Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad was the guest of honour of the first YOUNG ACTIVISTS SUMMIT (YAS), whose theme this year is WOMEN AND GIRLS DRIVING PROGRESS.

The Ezidi activist and 2018 Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad attended in the Young Activists Summit, which brought together a panel of activists aged 13 to 26 on December 10th. Nadia Murad captured by Daesh, the so called ISIS in 2014 with thousands of Ezidi women and children.

Murad had managed to escape and alert the international community about the crimes committed against the Ezidis. Nadia and a group of young activists shared their experiences at the Palais des Nations.

The event was organized by the United Nations Office at Geneva, this event brought together six young female activists whose inspiring backgrounds and achievements should be shared.

Young people aged 15 to 25 year olds were invited to participate in the Summit and ask questions to the activists. The summit was held on 10 December, Human Rights Day, in the highly symbolic Human Rights and Alliance of Civilizations Room at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.
