The situation with the Yazidi education in Sinjar (Iraq) is terrible. The region has suffered from years of conflict and displacement, and the education system has been seriously neglected. As a result, there is a large academic gap between Yazidi students and their peers in other parts of Iraq.

Schools suffer from a lack of curricula, stationery and staff; the Yazidi language is not taught at all; and some schools are used for non-educational purposes.

This is due to a number of factors, including:

- Lack of government interest in meeting school requirements in Sinjar;

- Resettlement of Yazidis during the genocide of 2014;

- Ongoing conflict and instability in the region;

- Many schools in Sinjar were destroyed or damaged during the conflict;

- There is a shortage of qualified teachers, especially in the Yazidi language and culture.

Many Yazidi families struggle to provide their children with basic necessities such as food, clothing and school supplies.

Security concerns are also a major concern, as Sinjar remains an unstable region.

Yazidi community has repeatedly called on the Iraqi Government to solve these problems, but little has been done. As a result, Yazidi children are deprived of quality education.

The consequences of this are far-reaching. Yazidi children who have not received a good education will find themselves at a disadvantage in the labor market and in society as a whole. They are also less likely to be able to contribute to the reconstruction of Sinjar and Yazidi community.

The international community must do more to support the education of Yazidis in Sinjar. This includes school funding, teacher training, and the development of teaching materials. It is also important to put pressure on the Iraqi Government to take measures to solve the problems in Sinjar.

Here are some concrete steps that can be taken to improve Yazidi education in Sinjar:

• The Government of Iraq should increase funding for education in Sinjar and ensure that schools are properly equipped and staffed.

• The Government should also develop a curriculum that includes the Yazidi language and culture.

• International organizations should continue to support education in Sinjar, including teacher training, the development of new curricula and the construction of new schools.

• Yazidi community itself has a role to play in promoting education and ensuring that all Yazidi children have the opportunity to attend school.

The international community and the Yazidi community can ensure that all Yazidi children have access to quality education.
