The Sinjar region is still under the control of the political parties of Iraq and Kurdistan, which prevents the residents of Sinjar from freely expressing their political views and choosing their representatives.

The Sinjar Agreement, signed in 2020 by the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government, has not been fully implemented. This agreement was supposed to ensure the safety of Yazidis in Sinjar, but it proved ineffective.

Many Yazidi refugees have not yet been able to return to their homes in Sinjar. This is due to the fact that this area is still unsafe, and many houses have been destroyed.

Yazidi parties are divided and lack cohesion, which makes it difficult for them to work together to represent the interests of Yazidis.

Instead of helping Yazidi refugees and displaced persons, the higher clergy of Lalish, the holiest place for Yazidis, serves Kurdish interests, which has caused discontent among many Yazidis around the world.

In order for the Sinjar district to be ready for elections, it is necessary to do the following:

- To provide an opportunity for people to freely express their political views.

- The Sinjar Agreement must be fully implemented.

- The Government of Iraq must ensure the safety of Yazidis in Sinjar.

- Yazidi refugees should be able to return to their homes.

- Yazidi parties should unite and work together to represent the interests of Yazidis.

- The higher clergy of Lalish should be seen as serving the interests of all Yazidis, not just the interests of the Kurds.

We hope that the Government of Iraq and the Kurdistan Regional Government will take steps to resolve these problems so that the Sinjar region is ready for elections in December.
