Self-government of the Sinjar and Nineveh Plain regions became an unavoidable issue for the Yazidi population
An Iraqi politician from the Christian party, a former member of the Iraqi parliament Joev Saliva, told Yazidi media that the self-rule of the Sinjar and Nineveh Plain regions became an inevitable issue and would limit the massacres and extermination of all national minorities living in the region, especially Yazidi population. Yazidis, Assyrians, Kurds, Arab Christians have lived in these two regions for centuries, but unfortunately because of religious and national racism persecution, killings and violence against minorities still take place.
Mr. Saliva indicated that the Autonomous Authority will preserve the religious and national integrity of Yazidis and Christians so that they will pass laws compatible with their religious integrity and their differences with other peoples and with the Muslim majority, as well as to preserve their culture, language, identity and their heritage. Sinjar and the Nineveh Plains are the two regions - what Yazidi people have left as their ancestral homeland.
Joev Saliva concluded by saying that after the neglect and prejudice of successive governments, which have never helped or protected Yazidi regions, the people of these two regions will benefit from their natural resources, for they have paid with blood for self-government.
