With the start of the Yazidi New Year (Çarşema Sersalê) celebrations on Tuesday, the Yazidi temple of Lalèş received a large number of visitors from all over the world.
According to media reports, some 45,000 visitors have visited the temple over the past two days, which is a large number of pilgrims to the holy Lalèse.
The Yazidi New Year (Çarşema Sersalê) is considered one of the biggest holidays for Yazidis, and they believe that on this day the earth blossoms and there is hope for a better future, the main association of the holiday being the colouring of eggs.
