The use of child labor threatens the future of Yazidi children in Nineveh

The Tahrir Liberation Association for Development contributes to the reduction of child labor through its project "Combating the worst forms of child labor among Yazidi IDPs, refugees and vulnerable communities in Iraq", funded by the International Labor Organization.

At a time when the use of child labor, poverty, exploitation of Yazidi children and trafficking in them became more frequent in the Nineveh province. Children dropping out of school and the terrible conditions faced by displaced children and returnees in Nineveh province. The Liberation Society has launched an initiative within the framework of its project "Combating the worst forms of child labor among Yazidi IDPs, refugees and vulnerable communities in Iraq". With the support of the project, training seminars are held on the rights and protection of children in emergency situations, types of abuse and potential causes of child abuse.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs reports: the number of working children in Iraq has reached about 3.3 million, mostly children work to support their families. This number indicates the seriousness of the situation, which requires a settlement, the rights of children should be protected.

It is worth mentioning that the Tahrir Development Association is a non-governmental, independent, non-profit organization that was established in May 2003 in the city of Mosul. Over the past years, the organization has worked to create many programs and activities aimed at rejecting violence and extremism in various societies by spreading a culture of dialogue, a spirit of tolerance and building peace. Establishing the concepts of democracy for a free and pluralistic Iraq, in which the rights and freedoms of citizens are respected by raising awareness of human rights and increasing the civil and political participation of the population, especially the weaker groups of society, such as women and youth in general.
