Yazidi shrines desecrated by terrorist-backed groups in Afrin

Terrorist groups continue to desecrate religious shrines of the Yazidi minority in Afrin, in Northern Syria.

According to local activists, yazidi religious shrines and cemeteries in Afrin were destroyed and looted by armed groups. The Ezdina Foundation, which monitors abuses in Afrin, has documented the latest information and videos of destroyed shrines and cemeteries.

"We document these abuses and show them to the international community so that they can help the Yazidi minority in Northern Syria," Ali Iso, head of the Foundation, told Rudaw TV on Monday. Relics looted by armed groups include the Shrine of Sheikh Junaid in the village Fakir, a sanctuary in the village of Kibar, the sanctuary of Sheikh Hussein in the village of Kibar, the sanctuary of Gulhana, the sanctuary of Sheikh Riceba in the village of Sadiri Yazidi graves in the village of Kibar were also destroyed. Villagers have tried to restore the shrines, but the damage is still visible.

"Their goal is to destroy and plunder all signs or symbols that represent the history and identity of the Yazidis," the IDF added.

In the past six months, armed groups have kidnapped six Yazidi women and girls in Afrin.
