Former Georgian Dream state minister joins the opposition Alexi (Buka) Petriashvili has joined Elene Khoshtaria and Zurab Japaridze, the political parties Droa and Girchi – More Freedom announced at a joint press conference.

Petriashvili emphasized the critical importance of unity in the current political landscape.

“The decisive battle today is in the political space, where we must all stand together. I am honoured to join the Droa team, along with friends and esteemed colleagues. Together with Droa and Girchi – More Freedom, we will continue this fight,” he stated.

Elene Khoshtaria highlighted the increased responsibility of political forces.

“I am pleased to welcome Buka, a principled fighter dedicated to the European agenda, who has delivered tangible results to our country and team.

Today, the battle line is drawn in the political field, and entering this process is a brave and correct step for the country,” she said.

Girchi-More Freedom member Zurab Japaridze noted ongoing negotiations within the opposition.

“We are in talks with various opposition groups, except for Gakharia’s party. Based on research and negotiations, we will agree on a configuration that prevents Ivanishvili and the Russian regime from taking opposition votes and maintaining power. While there are different opinions, we are committed to finding a consensus. Lelo is among the parties involved in these discussions,” he explained.

“In our opinion, the single list is the most correct formula. However, as negotiations are ongoing, we will see what consensus is reached,” he concluded.
