Rustam Mahmoudian was born in 1984 in the village of Shamiram, republic of Armenia, in a family of musicians.  All males of Rustam's family are musicians. Father's older brother Jamal Usv Mahmoudian, by profession was a journalist, and for many years worked in the Kurdish radio in Yerevan, but it didn't prevent him from doing what he loved,i.e. music. He sang with Arame Tigran, and his songs are still broadcasted on Armenian radio.  Also Rustam's younger uncle’s, Alikhan Usv's (Shiko Mahmoudian) songs are constantly heard on Yerevan radio.

In 1999, Rustam's family moved to Russia, to Saratov, where he began his professional activity. In Saratov Mahmoudian enrolled at the school of music, in the same time, Rustam was invited to the wedding as a singer; he traveled all over Russia, from Moscow to Vladivostok.

At one of the city events in Saratov Rustam was invited to a concert, where he maximally expressed the culture of his people, while the singer performed only his songs in a modern style, which are understood by all, as the words in them were both in his native Yazidi and in Russian.

At one of the music contests, known as «Star Rain", Mahmoudian performed his song "Girl dance" and took the first place, after which the song became famous in Saratov, and in many other cities of Russia.

Since 2006, the singer released albums such as: "rave lawo em herin welatê xwe", "bîr nekin zmanê xwe, weke emeke dayka xwe", etc.

Currently Rustam Mahmoudian is a frequent guest at Yazidis weddings around the world.
