We have to extend the validity of the law on public health until the end of the year, - the head of the health Committee Dmitry Khundadze told reporters at the end of the meeting of the parliamentary Bureau.
According to Khundadze, changes in the law, which imply the extension of the term of regulation, have already been initiated and their discussion in the committees will begin.
As you know, the term of the relevant law was set until July 15.
"Despite the fact that Georgia has developed the best tactics to fight covid-19, and the result is clear - we have an exceptionally positive result, we still have to live in a pandemic mode. It is expected that a possible second wave, which may have a higher spread, will be more severe in effect. So we have to extend the public health law until the end of the year.
Of course, along with this situation, it should be taken into account that the election period is approaching. Therefore, I think the first thing is to protect the health of the population, this positive result must be brought to an end, and for this the necessary condition is that the authorities do not have to manage the process with strict restrictions, that is, if necessary, to impose a state of emergency, and they can manage the process with easier regulations, which is possible by the "Law on public health", Khundadze said.
