The annual report of the American international Committee on religious liberties (USCIRF) was released, which States:

in 2019, conditions for religious freedom in Iraq improved in key areas, but remained generally worrisome, adding that the Yazidi religious minorities in the Nineveh and Sinjar plains faced significant obstacles. Their safe return in the short term and their continued long-term presence.

The report notes that after the success of the international coalition in ending the regional threat of ISIL at the end of 2017, many areas previously belonging to terrorist groups remained uninhabited or almost uninhabited.

The report highlights that significant humanitarian assistance provided by the United States and other international donors has strengthened reconstruction and stabilization efforts in these areas, but tens of thousands of religious and ethnic minority civilians remain at serious risk.

He also stated that most Yazidis and Iraqis and Christians remain displaced, and their problems even after returning were significant, while Yazidis, "500,000 of whom escaped the atrocities of ISIL in 2014", still faced serious disasters in 2019, and their collective shock at the atrocities of ISIL remained largely ignored. And it is evident that the fate of almost 3,000 women and children who were abducted is unknown.

The report indicated that in a survey conducted by The United Nations high Commissioner for refugees in February, only 3% of Yazidi IDPs surveyed planned to return to Sinjar. But there is little evidence that this number has improved of late.

The American international Commission on religious freedom (USCIRF) is an independent United States Federal government Committee coordinated by the Republican and democratic parties; it was created under the International religious freedom act (IRFA) of 1998, which monitors the universal right to freedom of religion or belief abroad.
