The government of Georgia has identified a list of medical institutions that will receive patients with symptoms of coronavirus and treat those infected with COVID-19. The government resolution is published on the website of the "Legislative Bulletin".

44 medical institutions across the country are planned to be involved in the fight against the epidemic.

In agreement with the Ministry of health, these clinics should be fully mobilized. They are instructed to increase the number of beds and intensive care units as much as possible, as well as to purchase medical supplies, equipment and medicines.

If necessary, hospitals will be completely released – patients will be distributed to other medical institutions.

44 hospitals will have to independently manage the distribution and management of patients, as well as diagnose high-risk cases involving people in quarantine zones or in self-isolation, and confirmed cases of coronavirus infection.

Clinics are required to appoint specialists who will collect biomaterials for PRC tests for coronavirus, conduct rapid tests, and be responsible for storing and transporting test material.

The staff of 44 hospitals, who are simultaneously employed in other medical institutions, are obliged to give up their second job for the duration of the pandemic. In turn, employers must keep their jobs.

The readiness of medical institutions will be evaluated by the Agency for regulation of medical and pharmaceutical activities. The same Agency will check the serviceability of their ventilators.

All certain hospitals will be issued temporary licenses and permits for medical activities, which will remain in force until the end of the state of emergency.

The first case of coronavirus infection in Georgia was recorded on February 26. By this time, COVID-19 was diagnosed in 370 people in the country, 79 of them recovered, and three patients died. More than 5,000 people remain in quarantine, and 540 people remain in clinics under the supervision of doctors.
