New rules for trucks have been introduced at the borders of Georgia
Drivers who have visited high-risk countries will be accompanied if they travel through Georgia in transit.
Transit cargo will be escorted, and imported into the country will be checked, according to the new rules of the revenue service for trucks due to coronavirus.
To date, 40 cases of coronavirus have been recorded in Georgia. Epidemiologists assume that the number of cases will increase. According to the information, control is being tightened for cars that have visited countries at high risk of spreading the coronavirus 14 days before – China, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Austria, Germany, France, Norway, Switzerland, Spain and Denmark.
In particular, drivers who have visited these countries in case of transit through Georgia will be accompanied to their destination at the checkpoint.
If they work for the import of goods to Georgia, the driver will be replaced by a person who does not belong to the risk group. In addition, the customs will disinfect the car, the driver himself, if he is a foreigner, will return to the country from which he came, and if he is a citizen of Georgia - will go to quarantine. In other cases, the cargo tractor can be replaced with a non-hazardous one. And the customs service will disinfect the trailer and turn the original tractor back.
If the driver cannot be replaced with another person, the car will reach the checkpoint and the cargo will be transferred to another car.
As for drivers and cargo from other countries, in this case, drivers will undergo strict monitoring and be checked for fever or other symptoms. If a foreign driver has symptoms of the disease , they will be returned to the country of arrival, a Georgian citizen will be sent to quarantine, and the cargo itself will pass through the Protocol of cargo from a dangerous country.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Georgia has closed its borders to foreigners for two weeks since March 18, except in special cases. All incoming Georgian citizens are sent to quarantine. In the country itself, all educational institutions are closed. All government departments and some private organizations have been switched to remote operation.
A ban on the operation of cafes and restaurants, closed registry offices, baths, gyms. Minibus services have been canceled. The government decided to close all stores except grocery stores and pharmacies. Gas stations and banks are also available.
All sports and entertainment events were also canceled in the country
