Russia's decision to withdraw troops from the border with Ukraine and return to the place of deployment is important and timely, according to Reuters, a NATO official told the agency.

According to them, any steps towards de-escalation on the part of Russia will be important and timely.

"NATO remains vigilant and will closely monitor Russia's unjustified military buildup in and around Ukraine," the alliance spokesman said.

According to him, NATO supports Ukraine and calls on Russia to comply with international obligations and withdraw forces from the territory of Ukraine.

Recall, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu yesterday announced the end of the exercises in the Southern and Western military districts and ordered the return of personnel to their places of deployment.
