Georgia exports most of its products to Russia and imports most of its goods from Turkey
Georgia's foreign trade turnover from January to October 2019 increased by 0.5% compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to almost $ 10.4 billion (excluding unorganized trade), according to the materials of the National statistics service of the country "Sakstat" (Gruzstat).
Exports of Georgian products for ten months exceeded $ 3 billion, that is 10.4% more than last year. Exports without re-exports since the beginning of the year increased by 1.9% compared to January-October 2018 and amounted to about 1.9 billion dollars.
At the same time, imports decreased by 3.1% and amounted to more than 7.3 billion dollars.
The negative trade balance of Georgia from January to October 2019 amounted to about 4.3 billion dollars, which represents 41.4% of the total foreign trade turnover.
What trades
A wide range of goods are exported from Georgia – the country supplies copper ores and concentrates, natural grape wines, ferroalloys, mineral waters, medicines, cars, processed or semi-processed gold, forest and other nuts, etc.
Exports of copper ores and concentrates in January-October 2019 increased by 24.7%, cars — by 65.4%, medicines – by 23.7%, natural grape wines-by 12.7% and so on. At the same time, exports of ferroalloys fell by 16.5%.
Main trading partner
The largest trading partners of Georgia since the beginning of 2019 are Turkey, Russia and China-in General, the turnover with these countries from January to October 2019 amounted to more than 3.5 billion dollars, which is more than 34% of the total trade turnover.
