Secretary General of the Council of Europe arrived in Georgia
Secretary General of the Council of Europe Maria pejcinovic-Buric arrived in Georgia. According to the press service of the Georgian foreign Ministry, the meeting ceremony of the General goalkeeper was held at Tbilisi international airport. She was met by the permanent representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe and the leadership of the Ministry of foreign Affairs.
The visit of the Secretary General is connected with the upcoming chairmanship of Georgia in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe. During the visit, Maria pejcinovic-Buric will hold meetings with the President, Prime Minister, Chairman of the Parliament and head of the Georgian delegation to the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
"On November 27, 2019, Georgia will become the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, and will remain so until may 15, 2020. The purpose of the Secretary-General's visit is to get acquainted with the priorities of the Georgian presidency and to outline specific areas of cooperation with Georgia. During the presidency, many events of different levels are planned, which will widely represent Georgia in Strasbourg, " said permanent representative of Georgia to the Council of Europe Irakli Giviashvili.
The Secretary General of the Council of Europe will visit Georgia on 10-11 November. The official handover ceremony of the Georgian presidency will take place on November 27 in Strasbourg.
