Opposition MPs demand withdrawal of Transparency of Foreign Influence Bill
The parliamentary opposition, including Armaz Akhvlediani, Tina Bokuchava, Ana Natsvlishvili, Tako Charkviani, Roman Gotsiridze, Nato Chkheidze, and Tamar Kordzaia, held a joint briefing, urging both the parliamentary majority to withdraw the draft law on Transparency of Foreign Influence and citizens to protest against it.
“We stand ready, alongside our freedom-loving citizens, to defend the Constitution of Georgia and uphold Georgia’s European aspirations. We refuse to allow Georgia to fall into chaos under the Kremlin’s scenario. We demand the immediate withdrawal of this Russian-inspired law and urge the political landscape of Georgia to focus on establishing a conducive pre-election environment, implementing the nine-point plan, and fostering normal, European-style governance through democratic elections,” stated Armaz Akhvlediani.
Additionally, Ana Natsvlishvili, an opposition Lelo member, emphasized the importance of citizen engagement by calling for their presence at the Parliament building.
“This country does not belong to corrupt officials who have sold themselves to Russia. This country belongs to you and future generations who deserve a better future. I call on you to join us at the Parliament today. Here, we will strengthen your voices and represent the will of the Georgian people.
Our commitment is not to Russia, not to Russian laws, but to Europe,” urged Ana Natsvlishvili.
