The head of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Yazidis appeals to the German government with a request not to forcibly return Yazidis who do not have the right to asylum. He argues that Yazidis are people who survived the genocide and fled from it, and that their humanitarian and psychological situation should be taken into account. The head of the Supreme Spiritual Council also notes that Yazidi community in Germany is large and that Germany has become their home.

Yazidis have suffered greatly in recent years. In 2014, they became the target of genocide by the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria. ISIS has killed thousands of Yazidis, enslaved thousands more and forced many others to leave their homes.

Yazidis who arrived in Germany survived the genocide and fled from it, they experienced unimaginable trauma and need the support of the German government. Forcing them to return to Iraq would be a cruel and inhumane act.

The German government has a long tradition of providing asylum to people fleeing persecution. This tradition is enshrined in the German Constitution.

Cultural Center of the Caucasus Yazidis calls on the German Government to maintain the tradition of granting asylum and continue to provide protection to Yazidis arriving in Germany, they should in no way be forced to return to Iraq, where they face further persecution.
