External trade of Georgia in January-July 2019

According to preliminary data of the statistics Service of Georgia, which were published on August 19, the foreign trade turnover of Georgia for seven months of 2019 decreased by 0.2% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 7.07 billion us dollars.

The export index for January-July 2019 increased by 12.4% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 2.1 billion us dollars. Imports fell by 4.7% to us $ 4.96 billion, and the trade deficit was us $ 2.86 billion.

Georgia's trade with the EU member States in January-July 2019 decreased by 5.2% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year and amounted to 1.8 billion us dollars. Exports to the EU increased by 20.6% to us $ 503.5 million, while imports from the EU fell by 12.6% to us $ 1.3 billion.

In January-July 2019, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, trade with the CIS countries increased by 0.7% and amounted to 2.4 billion us dollars. Exports to the CIS countries increased by 26.6% to us $ 1.1 billion, while imports fell by 14.3% to us $ 1.3 billion compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
